We all want to receive a blessing from

We all want to receive a blessing from our parents.

May 16, 2025

We all want to receive a blessing from our parents. We want our parents’ approval. We want them to acknowledge that we are succeeding in life and are doing well. In the Old Testament Esau said to his father after Jacob stole his blessing he said, “So you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me too, my father!” Then Esau wept aloud.” (Genesis 27:38) To have a blessing means the act or words of one that blesses someone else. It also shows God’s favor and protection. But sometimes that just doesn’t happen, a parent or our parents do not give us a blessing. Nor acknowledge us. And our need to receive one can get in the way of life. So, we go out of our way to get their approval, but the blessing just doesn’t come. One thing we all need to remember if we cannot get the blessing we want from someone we love, remember God gives us blessings. Psalm 90:17 reads, “Let the favor of the LORD our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands…” Ephesians 1:3 says, Blessed be the God and Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” Then Corinthians 9:8 tells us, “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” God loves you and wants you to be the best you can be. He believes in you. Blessed be our LORD and may you feel God’s blessings manifesting in your life on this day. God Bless. Amen.
