What does it mean to judge someone?

June 2, 2025

What does it mean to judge someone? It means to form an opinion, often a negative one, about a person’s character, actions, or behavior. As you judge the person you evaluate the person and make a decision about their worthiness or faultiness, which can be based on subjective feelings, personal biases, a lack of understanding, or even non-truths. This is what our society has become. All you have to do is listen to people and their bias comes out. How has this happened? Scripture tells us “Judge not and you will not be judged…Take the log out of your own eye before you take the speck out of someone else’s eye.” (Matthew 7:1, 4) Are we no longer afraid of God’s judgment upon us? For we all judge others by the way a person thinks, looks, acts, talks or even eats. I wonder what would happen if we all stopped judging and instead focus on our issues, our flaws, our shortcomings. And worry about how God views us? It is something to think about. God Bless. Amen.
