What scares you? The death of a loved

The death of a loved one?

December 22, 2024

What scares you? The death of a loved one? Illness? Divorce? Loss of a job? Not being in a relationship? The dark? Things that go bump? Scary movies? Or is it something else? All of us have fears. Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat. The question is how you handle your fear, because fear is real! The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love casts out all fear, because fear has not been made perfect in love.” You can let your fear consume and destroy you or you can acknowledge it, deal with it and then let go of it. Fear only has as much control over you as you allow. Today, if you are living in fear go to God, pray, read the Gospels, say the LORD Prayer repeatedly. Focus on God for your mind cannot do two things at once. Thus, by keeping your eyes on God the fear diminishes. Also, if it is all consuming seek counseling—that will help too. It is something to try. Remember focus on God, not your fear, and soon your fear will dissipate or lessen. God Bless. Amen.
