When was the last time you helped someone

When was the last time you helped someone other than a family member?

January 13, 2025

When was the last time you helped someone other than a family member? When was the last time you opened a door for a stranger? When was the last time you smiled at someone and said “Hello”? When was the last time you paid for a stranger’s meal or cup of coffee? When was the last time you did something for someone, other than yourself? When was the last time you did a random act of kindness? Because doing random acts of kindness is a good thing. Scripture tells us to be kind, help one another and lift up the downtrodden. It does not tell us to enable others, which can cause them to become dependent on you, not independent of you. There is a proverb that says, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” We are all called to help one another but let us not forget that it is more worthwhile to teach someone to do something for themselves than to do it for them. Galatians 6:5 says, “For each will have to bear his own load.” Then Proverbs 10:4 reads, “A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.” It is something to think about. For it is a fine-line that we Christians walk. God Bless. Have a great day. Amen.
