Who do You Associate With?

You become who you associate with!

May 23, 2026

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs4:23 NIV)

This verse is about protecting one’s inner life, as it dictates the course of our actions.  The “heart” represents the center of our thoughts, emotions, desires, and is our moral compass.

If you watch a reality show you are influenced by what they say and do.  You start to pick up their bad habits, which can lead to emotional and mental issues.  It you associate with people who are rude and mean, who yell and scream at those who do not do what they want them to do.  You start to become just like them with poisoned words and actions.  If you think you are above the law, because you do not believe in consequences.  You develop corrupt desires and intentions.

Guarding one’s heart means what you dwell on, who you associate with, shapes your life.  This verse encourages us to be selective about what we allow into our mind and life.  By protecting our heart from negative or destructive influences ensures that our actions remain positive and grounded in wisdom.  It is something to be aware of.  God Bless. Amen.
