“Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever.” (Daniel 12:3 NLT)

When I read this scripture, I think of Bill Graham. A man of God.  A man who led many people to righteousness.  I met him once after the Oklahoma City bombing, at the prayer vigil.  There was going to be a group of ministers, priests, and rabbis speaking.  Each one spoke telling the victims of the bombing and the workers how we needed to forgive those that blew up the Murrah Federal Building. As I worked the floor, I felt the anger rising among the people there. Then Billy Graham stood up—a very presence of God.  He said, “Now is not the time to talk about forgiveness.  Now is the time to help one another get through this horrible situation.” He said other things.  I don’t really remember the other words he spoke.  All I know is after he spoke those words, calmness filled the air.  A man of God.

Sometimes, we forget, what we say, how we act, and what we do are important—because someone is always watching.  We are to be wise and shine bright.  We are to represent God all the time, not just some of the time. Think about it, we are called to represent God in all moments of daily life, not just during religious activities or on certain days.

Maybe our heroes need to be more like Billy Graham—people who walk in the light and want to share God with others.  Humble people.  People who represent God in all things.  Maybe we all need to take inventory of ourselves.  It is something to think about. God Bless.  Amen.
