God gives us strength when we are weary.
May 22, 2026

“But they that wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah40:31 KJV)
This verse tells us to “wait” or “hope” for God, because God will renew our strength. It implies trusting patiently in God’s timing and in God. Life can and will exhaust us. When we turn to God, when we wait on God, He renews us and gives us strength. He promises to exchange weariness and fatigue for a fresh supply of energy.
God give us endurance, strength, and hope. When you say to God; “I can’t do this.” God gives you the strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other. The metaphors used (soaring, running, walking) represent the ability to overcome obstacles, navigate major challenges, and sustain the everyday routine without giving up.
Lee Iacocca and his father Nicola were playing golf. Nicola was 70. After he would hit the ball, he ran to where he hit the ball. Lee asked his father, “Why are you running to the ball?” His father replied, “Why walk when you can run!”
We are to never give up. We are to keep moving. We are to trust in God, for those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength. For waiting on the Lord is not passive stalling, but a deliberate act of trust that brings transformation. It is something for us to remember the next time we become weary. God Bless. Amen.
