Bless the Lord.

Learning to focus on God not self.

March 12, 2026

Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like eagle’s.” (Psalm 103:1-5 KJV)

Beautiful scripture. “Bless the Lord” means to praise, adore, and thank God with all your heart, soul, and being.  It signifies an act of reverent worship, acknowledging God’s goodness, greatness, and holiness.  It is a call to focus on God, God’s character and benefits rather than focusing on oneself.

How many times to we go to God asking for something, complaining about something, feeling sorry for ourselves?  Our focus seems to be on us and what we want instead of focusing on God.  Learning to get out of self and one’s self-pity involves actively shifting your mindset from self by focusing on other things such as God, being grateful for what you have, counting your blessings, keeping a thankful journal.  Learning to see the good not just the negative and the bad.

Today, throughout the day focusing on God.  Recognizing and remember God’s benefits, such as forgiveness, healing and love.  Give thanks, praise God and with your entire being and all that is within you, praise His holy name.  Your day just might turn out differently.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!”  God Bless. Amen.
