Have you ever wanted to seek revenge—get even

Have you ever wanted to seek revenge—get even with someone who wronged you or hurt you?

October 2, 2023

Have you ever wanted to seek revenge—get even with someone who wronged you or hurt you? If you are honest, the answer is “Yes”. We all have. Seeking revenge does not make you feel better. It does not change the situation. We reason in our mind, it will give us satisfaction, from our hurt that we have experienced. And maybe, for an instant we puff up thinking we feel better now, but it truly does not give you the satisfaction you seek. Usually it will make you feel worse. Think on this; look at all the precious time, you have wasted seeking your revenge. Revenge has a tendency to backfire and may cause you more pain in the end. When we seek revenge, we must remember two wrongs do not make a right. The definition of revenge is to avenge oneself usually by retaliating in kind or degree or inflict injury in return for something done to you. The Bible tells us how to handle revenge it says, “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.” (Leviticus 19:18) Romans 12:19 reads, “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the LORD.” So give your pain and revengeful spirit over to God—let go and let God. He is bigger than any situation you are in. Remember, vengeance is mine, says the Lord! God Bless. Amen.
