I have noticed a trend moving across our nation.

I have noticed a trend moving across our nation. There are people who say things, speak rudely, and are downright hateful, just because they say it is their right. Just because you think something does not give you the right to act on it or say what you are thinking. At times, no action is the best action you can take. Controlling your thoughts and actions is having self-control. Self-control is the ability to control oneself, in particular one’s emotions and desires or the expression of them in one’s behavior, especially in difficult situations. My mother always said, “If you cannot say anything nice do not say anything at all.” Great advice. When someone speaks out of meanness the question is why? What are they getting out of it? Do they not realize they are making a fool out of themself? In my opinion, I think we keep rewarding the meanness. They do not receive consequences of their inappropriate behavior. There is a lack of moral values. Integrity is no longer important; it is almost considered weird. Proverbs 25:28 reads, “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” Sometimes, the right thing to do is to keep silent. It is something to think about. Change starts with one person. One family. One City. One State. One Nation. God Bless. Amen.
