Is God a Priority?

God is to be Lord of our lives!

March 30, 2026

“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing and vats will brim over with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10 NIV)

To understand this scripture, we first must understand what it means to honor the Lord.  To honor the Lord means to treat Him with gravity, respect, seriousness, a desire to put Him first in our lives.  As we do this, we begin to understand His holiness, love, and power, which serves to hold all creation together and draws individuals toward Him.

When God is the Lord of our lives, our wealth, our being, our life belongs to Him. Our relationship is rooted in God thus we give to Him the best part of our wealth—not just leftovers.

When we learn to make God a priority, our barns will be filled—which symbolizes blessings and the promise of God’s provisions, this includes all things.  This scripture acts as a call to make God a priority.  It emphasizes trust in God through obedience, focusing on giving to Him first rather than the leftovers in our lives.

The question we need to ask ourselves is God a priority?  Is He first in our life?  Or does life get in the way and God becomes an afterthought?  It is something to think about.  God Bless.  Amen.
