Look to the Lord.

Worrying does not change a thing.

March 18, 2026

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:31-34 NIV)

This scripture tells us instead of chasing material concerns like the pagans (non-Jewish, non-Christian Gentiles), we should look to God and what God want us to do and to be.  We are to trust God to handle each day’s challenges without anxiety about tomorrow.  Because we have enough to worry about today.  This is hard to do, because our mind thinks about all the things that need to be done.

This scripture reminds us we are to focus on today and today’s troubles, not fixating nor worrying about what will happen tomorrow.  Since we do not know what tomorrow will bring, all we have is this moment.  If we keep our eyes upon the Lord through prayer, mediation, reading the Bible, listening to Christian music, God will center us.  God will calm our anxious spirit.  God will give us wisdom and courage.  God will give us an understanding of what we need to do today, to get through today’s problems.  For no amount of worry will change what will happen tomorrow.

Basically, we are to take care of today because tomorrow is not guaranteed nor promised.  Today has enough trouble of its own.  Something to remember the next time you get anxious.  God Bless.  Amen.
