How do you want to be remembered?
April 18, 2026

“Remember me, O my God, for good, according to all that I have done…” (Nehemiah 13:31 KJV)
This final verse concludes the book of Nehemiah. It highlights Nehemiah’s efforts to restore proper worshipping in the temple and asking for God’s blessing. Nehemiah was a righteous and good man. In a time where people had gone astray and were left to their own devises, Nehemiah brought them back to God. This verse emphasizes finishing one’s duty, one’s calling, one’s devotion to God faithfully, with a focus on God rather than on "self."
As the book of Nehemiah comes to an end, it shows that he thought about his life and what he had done and wanted God to remember him for good. This verse is about one’s relationship with God. For actions always speak louder an words.
So, if you say, “Remember me, O my God, for good” what do you think you will be remembered for?
Will you be remembered for your faithfulness in God? Many are remembered for quiet, daily obedience. Will you be remembered for your courage and boldness? By taking risks for what is right often leaving a lasting mark on others. Will you be remembered for your service and love. Through acts of kindness, generosity, and loving others. Will you be remembered for your values and integrity. Staying true to one’s beliefs and living honestly and righteously. Will you be remembered for putting others before your wants and desires. By serving others and God not “self” first.
What do you want to be remembered for? Is it the prayer Nehemiah prayed? “Remember me, O my God, for good?” It is something to think about. God Bless. Amen.
