The definition of being polite is having or showing behavior that is respectful and considerate of others. Anyone can be polite, because being polite does not cost anything nor does it require a special degree. Being polite is showing good manners toward others, as in behavior or speech. It is being courteous and civil. A person who is polite has good manners and behaves in a way that is never rude toward others. The Bible gives us direction when it comes to what flows from our mouth and how to act. Titus 3:2 tells us, “Speak no evil about anyone, to live in peace, and be gentle and polite to all people.” Proverbs 15:4 says, “The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.” Colossians 4:6 reads, “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” As Christians, we should not knowingly be rude to others, for you never know who is watching you and what impact your presence will have upon them. Kindness and being polite should aways be a part of our daily life. For you get more from honey than vinegar. Philippians 4:8 reminds us, “Finally, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Let us be the people God has called us to be! People with integrity and honor. God Bless. Amen.
