Matthew 6:14-15 reads, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” What does it mean to forgive? Forgiveness means to stop feeling angry or resentful toward someone for an offense, flaw, or mistake, you believe this person has made. Therefore, my question is, who in your life do you need to forgive? Your spouse, a child, a sibling, a parent, a friend, a co-worker, a stranger who upset you? Who is it that you need to forgive? Many studies have documented the negative health effect of unforgiveness, including mental health issues and physical health issues. When you do not forgive that poison festers inside you. Dr. Szabo, a dear friend of mine, would talk with his patience about forgiveness. He truly believed that until a patient dealt with forgiveness their health would not improve. If this is true, the only way we can live and lead a healthy life is to forgive those who have wronged us. But we each must come to this decision on our own! Here is the thing, if you want others to forgive you, don’t you think, it stand to reason, you need to forgive those who have wronged you? It is something to think about. Colossians 3:13 reads, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” God Bless. Amen.
