Psalms 57:1 reads, “Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.” Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. Refuge means a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble. For example, you sin, you do something wrong, God gives you mercy. But He also gives you a place of refuge from the sin you have committed, until what you have done wrong passes. Thus, you are in the shadow of God’s wings, protected. This is the power of God. This is what God does for us day in and day out of our lives. He grants us mercy and is a refuge in troubled times. Today, no matter what you are going through remember God is with you and forgives the wrongs you have committed. He is the one sure thing in life. So, go to Him, seek mercy and find refuge. God Bless. Amen.
