Do you ever feel sorry for yourself?

August 11, 2025

Do you ever feel sorry for yourself? As if your life is so unfair and it seems as if it is against you, nothing seems to go right for you! I think, if we are honest, we all have felt sorry for ourselves at one time or another. I have found that the more you feel sorry for yourself, the more you slide deeper into self-pity. The more you slide down the self-pity hole, the more you feel sorry for yourself! It becomes a vicious cycle. Self-pity means excessive, self-absorbed unhappiness over one’s own troubles. Feeling sorry for yourself and self-pity go hand-in-hand. The key to overcoming our self-pity is to focus upon the LORD God Almighty. Praise Him—read scripture—pray and keep your eyes upon the LORD. Listen to Christian music. And pray some more. As time goes by you become more focus on God than yourself. 1 John 5:4 reads, “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” Faith is what’s going to overcome your circumstances, not self-pity. The hard part is learning to quit focusing on yourself. It is something to think about. God Bless. Amen.
