God gave me life so that I might enjoy all things.

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV)
I want things. I need things. There is a difference between want and need. Needs are essential items required for survival and basic functioning (food, shelter, clothing),whereas wants are desires that improve quality of life but are not necessary for survival. Needs are required, while wants are optional, often driven by personal preference, and emotional satisfaction.
There is a saying, “I asked God for all things, so that I might enjoy life; God gave me life, so that I might enjoy all things.” This quote contrasts selfish wants, worldly requests with spiritual understanding of God’s blessings.
Sometimes, we confuse our wants and needs with things. Maybe we are not supposed to let our desires and our wants consume us. Maybe we need to stop, take a moment and enjoy the many blessings God has given us. You know, stop and smell the roses.
Today, let us use our 5 senses—to see, taste, listen, feel, and hear the wonders and beauty of God within our day, this very moment. For God gave us life so that we might enjoy all things. Let us enjoy all the things God has given us. God Bless. Amen.
