“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” (Psalms 68:19) “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.” (Psalm 55:22) A burden is a load, typically a heavy one. When you cast your burden on God it means to actively release your worries, anxieties, and responsibilities to God through prayer and trust, so that God can sustain and provide for you. It is acknowledging your own limitations and surrendering control, with the promise that God will give you knowledge, strength, courage, and hope; providing rest and peace, even if the situation itself does not change. So, if you are having a tiff with someone you say, “Help me. You need to straighten this out Lord.” If you need a parking place you say, “Help me Lord find a good parking place.” If you are having trouble on an issue at work you say, “God give me the wisdom I need to get this project moving in the right direction.” If you are ill you say, “God help me. I am sick. I need your help.” If you are cooking and you want your food to bless those who eat it, go to God saying, “Bless this food Lord. Have it turn out great.” If you are washing clothes go to God and say, “Bless these clothes and those who are wearing them.” For we are to go to God in all things—small issues, large issues, and medium issues. Because no burden is too small for God. God Bless. Amen.
