Sometimes it is OK to Walk Away.

Bad company corrupts good character.

“Do not be misled, “Bad company corrupts good character.”” (1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV)

           This scripture indicates that walking away is biblically supported, a wise action when dealing with toxic, unrepentant, or harmful individuals, prioritizing spiritual well-being and peace.  Matthew 10:14 NIV reads, “If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.”  This example shows that it is OK when one is not welcomed, to leave.  

Proverbs 13:20 NIV reads, “The one who walks with the wise will become wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm.”  This scripture emphasizes the profound impact that others have on you and their influence, stating that walking with the wise, leads to wisdom, while associating with fools brings harm.  

           Sometimes, in life, we are forced to walk away from a bad situation, whether it is at work, at home, or with friends.  Not that we want to, but for our own well-being it needs to happen.  For choosing to be around the wise and the godly leads to a positive outcomes, while associating with fools leads to misery.

           These scriptures serve as a warning and a guiding principle, encouraging individuals to be mindful of their associations and the influence those they associate with have on their lives.  It is OK to walk away from unhealthy work places or relationships, and it is OK to turn off harmful media or TV programs to take care of yourself.  By doing this you protect your wellbeing.  It is something to think about.  God Bless.  Amen.
