They say it takes 6 weeks to form a habit and one day to break it.

They say it takes 6 weeks to form a habit and one day to break it. The dictionary says a habit is a regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up. We have good habits and not so good habits. A bad habit can be over drinking, overeating, laziness/sloth, biting your nails, using drugs, spending excess money you do not have, gossiping, lying, stealing, cussing, anger, holding a grudge, to name a few. These habits can set us up for failure and make our lives miserable. Trying to break these habits can be very hard and one must be intentional about doing so. A good habit is eating right, exercising, taking care of your health, being clean, only saying kind and good things about others, being forgiving, showing respect, being honest and trustworthy, praying, meditating, reading the Bible, to name a few. And these habits are hard to start, do, and maintain. Sometimes it seems easier, it appears to be easier or gives the impression that it is easier to have unhealthy habits, but if you really think about it, living a life in God is the easy way, the right way to live. To live in God is to build a personal, intimate relationship with Him through prayer and action with love and kindness towards others and follow God’s will by obeying His commandments, daily. The more you do this the more the habit is formed though routine, repetition and desire. James 4:8a reads, “Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.” 1 Chronicles 16:11 says, “Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his presence continually!” Maybe the Christian Walk is to strive to form healthy habits, by being intentional, and that is done through our relationship with our Lord. It is something to think about. God Bless. Amen.
