To be cynical is believing that people are motivated purely by self-interest, distrustful of human sincerity or integrity. To be pessimistic is tending to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen. In this life of ours we can become cynical or pessimistic. Especially when life is overwhelming, full of trials and tribulations. Where the bleakness of life becomes a part of your everyday life. Do you ever feel as if things are against you? Hebrews 12:15 reads, “See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” Romans 12:21 says, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” In the big scheme of things, we must remember life is life. Life happens. The thing we must remember is not to let cynicism harden our heart which will close us off to God’s grace, mercy, and hope. Bitterness and despair are not from God. Life can be harsh at times. When we keep our eyes focused on God’s grace and promises, life becomes bearable and hope is found. Hebrews 11:1 tells us, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.” Remember life is life, the things you are experiencing now, will pass. You will get through it, for your attitude and your faith in God will help you to thrive. For God is our all in all, a very presence in times of trouble. God Bless. Amen.
