Why do you suppose we hold grudges?

Why do you suppose we hold grudges? Is it to prove a point? Isit to punish the person, you are mad at. To get even? To hurt the person, you are holding a grudge against. To hold a grudge means to harbor persistent anger, bitterness, or resentment towards someone for a perceived wrong, often refusing to forgive or forget. When you hold a grudge, you don’t let it go when you feel someone’s wronged you or insulted you. Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us, “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Leviticus 19:18 says, “You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.” Here is something to think about, aren’t you glad God doesn’t hold grudges—boy we would be in big trouble if He did! Maybe we need to do as God does? God Bless. Amen.
